What Does Hospice Cost?
No patient will be denied St. John Hospice care because of ability to pay.
Hospice services are covered by Medicare Part A, and most insurance plans.
The Hospice Medicare Benefit pays for all hospice-related services with no out-of-pocket cost to the patient or family. Hospice services covered include all staff services, related therapies, medical supplies and equipment related to the terminal diagnosis as well as all medications related to the terminal illness. Your hospice nurse upon admission will inform you of what medications and supplies will be provided.
Most insurance plans now have a hospice benefit. A member of the hospice staff will discuss the coverage with you during the initial visit. The patient/family will be informed of any out-of-pocket costs prior to the provision of care.
Donations from the community such as memorials, gifts, or bequests allow St. John Hospice to serve those without resources.
